For this shoot I decided to go around where I live and take pictures of the sky around me so I could get some buildings in my photos so it would be different compared to my first shoot.
Research Artist
For this shoot, I was inspired by Stephen Shore because I like the way how he frames the photo by using the buildings around him along the edge of the frame.

This photo inspired me because he has used the two buildings to fill up the frame along the edge to create an interesting affect of how the it seems like you are travelling through the photo to reach the sky. This is something I could aim for when I am using buildings in my photos to add extra detail and texture.

Best Images
I like this photo because the building frames the side of the photo allowing the sky not to be too dominating but still takes up most of the frame. Also, I like how the sun is half way showing around the building and creates an inertesting affect with the rays and gives the sky another feature.
I like how the long cloud sits on top of the trees and has a strong blue above it and creates an interesting layering affect. I like how I've set my camera settings correctly so I was able to get the different tones and shades in the cloud to make it stand out more and draw more attention to it.
I like how this photo is only on the sky because you do not have any extra elments to distract the viewer. Also, I like how at first glance it seems simple but the more you look at it the more detail you can see from the clouds. Additionally, the colour gets darker as you go further towards the top left corner which created a soothing gradient affect.
I like how the buildings frame the bottom half of the photo to help fill the space. Also, I like how as you go further up the frame the less busy the picture gets creating a calming affect and make the photo seem more balanced. I like how I've got my camera settings correct because I was able to capture the shadows in the clouds to help add that extra subtle detail to make my photo more intriguing.
I like how the tree and cloud almost mirror each other by getting smaller as you go in towards the frame. This curved line creates a calming a peaceful feeling which is also emphasised through the softness of the cloud. Also, I like how the trees add slight more texture to the photo to give it an additional formal element and make my photo seem more interesting.
Images that require improvement
I do not like this photo because I had my aperture set too low, therefore, not enough light was let into the frame to allow you to see the image and the detail in the sky. This was due to the photos I was taking before involved the sun and I did not change my settings before taking this photos.
I do not like this photo because I did not decrease my aperture enough to be able to take a picture involving the sun, therefore, the light from the sun caused the photo to be overly exposed and whited out. Due to this, I was not able to capture the colour of the different textures from the sky in this photo.
I do not like this photo because the branches from the tree makes the photo seem overly busy and theres too many distractions from the actual sky. Also, due to the high amount of branches in the photo it makes it difficult to see the sky through them and creates an overcrowding affect.
AO3
For this shoot, I went around the houses where I live and took photos of the different buildings around me. I was inspired my Stephen Shore because he takes a lot of pictures of the sky using buildings to help frame his photos, making them more alluring. When I was looking through his work, I realised that I could achieve something similar if I too photos around where I lived.
I achieved this style in my first best image because I managed to us the house to frame the photo so it would fill up the space a bit more and make the sky seem more interesting. Also, I managed to position my camera in a certain way that would allow me to get part of the sun appearing around the building to create an interesting affect.
AO2
For this shoot, I used my Canon 600D camera with a EPS 18-55 Canon lens. I set my ISO to 200 because I was taking a lot of photos towawds the sun and my shutter speed was set to 1/125. I had my apeture set to 5.6 when I was taking photos involving the sun because I wanted to let in as little as light as possible because it would of over exposed my photos if I didn't. When I was facing away from the sun I had it set to either 8.0 or 11.0 so I could still capture a lot of detail in the sky and clouds.
Manipulating my Images

AO1
For this shoot I was inspired by Stephen Shore because he uses buildings in his photos to frame the outer edge and add an extra interesting element in the photo. In a few of his photos, the building was a lot darker compared to the sky which helps emphasise it on being the main focus and attraction, and I wanted to create the same affect on what I had available around me.
AO4
To make these photos more personal to me, I took them around where I live which I have more of a personal connection to compared to if I drove somewhere to a random road and took pictures. Also, for one of my photos I did circles of black and white and colour to create a weird affect, this helped me display my creativity and weirdness through the photo, making it more personal.

I like how these photos came out in the edits because I was able to experiment with creating black and white and coloured photos and make interesting patterns with it as well. By doing this, it allowed me to come up with different patterns I could use on my images and experiment with different design ideas. Also, this allows me to expand my portfolio and develop my photos further because I have experimented with different techniques which could help me later when I produce my final images.
